I loved his emphasis on an African narrative that creates opportunities for Africa to chart a more climate resilient and sustainable development path, and the important role of African scientists, academics and policymakers in strengthening this climate action. I agree that it is time Africans demonstrated self-confidence in articulating solutions that serve our development priorities. We may be suffering the brunt of the global climate crisis, however we have a huge opportunity to embark on a new development trajectory which is better suited to Africa’s needs and aspirations.
